Does it help to tell a city employer that you have a disability?
I have a weird syndrome. You can’t tell by looking at me that there is anything wrong. I found a job at the city were you sit down all day (which I have to have). I am going to apply for it. Does it help you or not help you to tell them about your disability?
It’s equal opportunity hiring. They can’t discriminate, especially since it’s a job that works well with your disability. I wouldn’t tell in your application process. Once you get to an interview and you’re discussing why you want that job, then tell them all of the great reasons why you want it (be sure to give reasons along the lines of these first: it appeals to your studious nature, you’re logically minded, clerical work appeals to you, etc.) then point out that you also suffer from ___ syndrome and that therefore, a job that allows you a lot of desk time is ideal.
